Common questions about lessons

We want to make sure you become the best driver you can be! So, before you consider booking lessons, it’s important you understand everything you can about driving courses, driving lessons and, driving instructors.

Can I learn to drive with family or friends?

Yes, you can practice with members of your family/household. Anyone you practise with has to be over 21, qualified to drive and, held their driving licence for at least 3 years. While learning with family and friends is a great way to practice, we always recommend using a professional driving instructor before taking your test.

How much do driving lessons cost?

Driving lessons with Papa Nicks’ Driving School start at £30 per hour. We do offer bulk bookings and driving lesson packages which brings that price down. For example, a 10-hour booking of driving lessons will save you over £200.

How many lessons do you need to pass your driving test?

On average, people have 40 hours of lessons before they’re ready to take their driving test according to the DVSA. It depends on your experience, how many driving lessons you can have a week and, your performance behind the wheel.

Is 20 driving lessons enough?

For some pupils, it can be! It’s best to be patient with yourself and not rush. If you want to pass your driving test the first time, it’s important that you’re 100% confident and ready. The lessons I offer in the Peterborough area focus on making sure that you’re familiar with the roads and the types of drivers before taking your test.
